Supply Bottlenecks and What We're Doing to Help

Ships Backed Up

Since the Covid outbreak, our customers have experienced waiting periods of five months to get their windows and doors installed. Here are several reasons and what we at WWEC are doing about it.

Shortage of Materials

Care is taken at Window World to use the highest quality vinyl and glass in our window production, both of which have been at the mercy of lower supply and higher demand.

Glass

Glass is a mixture of sand, soda ash, and limestone, all blasted at very high temperatures in furnaces. Our window and door glass uses silica sand, which is highly valued for its purity. The current demand for silica sand has surged worldwide, creating supply shortages.

Vinyl

Meanwhile, vinyl resin used to build our window frames has seen demand soar. Window World uses more pounds of vinyl per window than our competitors, making us more vulnerable to shortages. This extra poundage is why we offer the industry's best warranty.

Transportation

Our transportation industry received a wake-up call during the pandemic, and recovery will be slow. The pandemic exposed shortages of trucks, ships, containers, drivers, loaders and unloaders. As much as 72% of the nation's freight is moved by trucks, so the impact was unavoidable.

What Window World has and will continue to do

We've hired additional staff, as have our manufacturers

We're buying more stock inventory to address potential shortages of the materials and supplies we routinely use.
